Illumination Night by Alice Hoffman

Elizabeth Renny smiles in her sleep.  All of her dreams are white.  She dreams she sees sunlight.  She sees the walls of her room at home, she hears her mother in the kitchen, cooking cereal, her father running water in the sink as he shaves.  She hears her sister opening the curtains, and the traffic on the street.

Love the way Hoffman uses her words to recreate the everyday sounds of comforting life.
